Biography

During the 1930s Severino Menardi was one of the best Alpine and Nordic skiers in Italy, winning more than a dozen medals at the national championships. In 1931 Menardi did the triple when he won gold in the downhill, slalom, and combined at the Italian Alpine Skiing Championships. Four years later he won gold in both the downhill and the combined at the 1935 championships. He was also a three-time national champion in the Nordic combined (1933–34, 1936) and won gold in the 18 km cross-country race in 1938. Menardi competed in three events at the 1932 Lake Placid Olympics and had a best result of 21st in the Nordic combined. Four years later at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics he just missed out on a medal when he finished fourth in the 4 × 10 kilometres cross-country relay.
