Milton began his playing career with Tegs SK, playing for the team from 1965 to 1969. This was followed by spells at Modo AIK (1969–72) and Västra Frölunda IF (1972–75) before he joined the German team Cologne EC, playing with them until 1978. He returned to Sweden to play two seasons with IFK Bäcken, followed by one season with SK Derv in Norway in 1980–81. Milton finished his club career in Sweden where he played for Mölndals IF and Lerum BK.

In the early 1980s whilst at Mölndals IF he worked as a player-coach for the team. Over the next 30 years Milton coached multiple sides in Sweden including the under-18 national team in the 2000–01 season.
