Janez Mlinar was a cross-country skier who competed at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics. During his career he won Yugoslav titles in the 15 km, cross-country relay, and Nordic combined. After his competitive career ended, he continued to ski and took part in cross-country ski marathons, winning the Worldloppet Masters title three times. In his native Slovenia he later worked in organizing ski competitions.
