Biography

Gerhard “Gerardo” Mussner was a former Italian Alpine skier who competed at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics, with a best finish of 11th in the downhill. Domestically, he won the 1969 Italian giant slalom title. Mussner appeared in early editions of the World Cup, finishing 36th in the overall standings in 1967, 17th in the 1967 downhill, and 27th in the 1968 giant slalom.

After leaving competition, Gerardo devoted himself full time to catering, eventually receiving numerous awards in prestigious guides. Built in 1963, the hotel Chalet Gérard in Selva di Val Gardena was later run by Gerardo’s daughters and served South Tirolean dishes.
