Biography

Claire Vautrin was France’s first representative in the women’s K-1 500 event at the 1948 Olympics in London, finishing eighth in the final. She was married to Robert Vautrin (1909–2003), he largely contributed to the restart of the Fédération Française de Canoë-Kayak (FFCK) after the Liberation of France in 1944/1945. He was also an official at the 1968 Olympic Games. Their son André was also active in the sport and a member of the national team in the 1950s.
