Biography

Josef Nüsser was a four-time national champion of Czechoslovakia in Nordic combined and a one-time champion in ski jumping. Nüsser trained as a carpenter, working for Harrachov Forestry, where he became involved with the local ski club. From 1948 to 1963 he represented the national team including competing in the Nordic combined at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics. One year after the Olympics Nüsser won the Nordic combined and ski jumping titles at an international competition held in Harrachov. He won the Golden Ski at multiple races across Europe and was inducted into the Semily District Hall of Fame in 2016.
