Biography

Hans Oberer was a cross-country skier and border guard who lived and grew up in the Swiss Alps. As a skier Oberer competed at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics, finishing ninth in the 4 × 10 kilometres relay and 31st in the 15 kilometres event. After the Olympics he had success at the Swiss Championships, including winning gold in the 50 kilometres in 1969 and bronze in the 30 kilometres in 1965. His cross-country skiing went together with his day job of working for the Swiss Border Guard, with Oberer working with younger athletes.
