Biography

Bruce Peppin joined the Aldwych Speed Club in 1942 as a 17-year-old, and by 1946 was a semi-finalist in the British Speed Skating Championships. He represented Great Britain at the 1947 European Championships in Stockholm, finishing 22nd out of 27, in the all-round competition. At the St. Moritz Olympics the following year, Peppin broke the British 1500 metres record with a time of 2:24.7, only to see it broken a short time later by teammate Henry Howes. Peppin did not compete at the 1952 Winter Olympics but was manager of the British speed skating team at Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1956.

Personal Bests: 500 – 46.1 (1948); 1500 – 2:24.7 (1948); 5000 – 9:00.4 (1948); 10000 – 18:58.4 (1948).
