Helmut Petrik was an Austrian ice hockey forward who participated in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. The Austrian team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, Petrik won 47 international caps, scoring seven goals and five assists. Domestically, he played exclusively with Villacher SV from 1977-94, winning the Austrian nationals in 1981, 1992, and 1993. His sons Nikolas and Benjamin also became ice hockey internationals.
