Eric Koechlin competed in kayak at the 1972 Olympics and the 1969, 1971, and 1973 World Championships, winning a bronze medal in 1973. He later worked in the Ministry of Youth and Sports and was deputy chef de mission of the French delegation to the 2004 and 2006 Olympic Games. He also taught and coached kayaking to many youths in France.
