Eric Koechlin competed in kayak at the 1972 Olympics and the 1969, 1971, and 1973 World Championships, winning a bronze medal in 1973. He later became a Minister of Youth Sports in France was chief of the French canoeing delegation at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also taught and coached kayaking to many youths in France.
