Biography

A Scots-Canadian from Winnipeg Edward Pitblado served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and the Royal Flying Corps during World War One and later returned to Europe as a Rhodes Scholar to study at Oxford University. He played for Great Britain against Switzerland in 1921 and represented Oxford University at both ice hockey and lacrosse during his studies. Pitblado, a forward, scored a hat-trick in Great Britain’s first match of the Olympic Games against France and one against Belguim.

After completing his studies he returned to Canada and set up a law practice in Winnipeg. Pitblado served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War Two.
