Josef Prokeš was a Czechoslovakian cross-country skier who competed at the 1956 Cortina Winter Olympics. He also appeared at two World Championships in the 1950s.
After ending his competitive career Prokeš worked at Charles University in Praha, but later became a ski coach. He emigrated to Austria where he established a Nordic training centre in Stams, Tyrol. Prokeš is considered the founder of the cross-country ski movement in Austria.
