Jaroslav Pušbauer started playing as a defender with BZK Praha. He had his first international selection as a player for Sparta Praha, when he was part of the Czechoslovakian team at the 1924 Winter Olympics, but he did not actually play. From then on Pušbauer took part in every international championship until 1938 except one. In 1927 he joined LTC Praha as one of a new generation of players, winning the league title in 1937 and 1938, and playing with them at the Spengler Cup in 1933-34 and 1937-38. Pušbauer completed his career in 1943-44 as a player-coach with SK Podolí. He played 82 matches for Czechoslovakia, scoring four goals. With him the team won bronze medals at the 1933 and 1938 World Championships, European titles in 1925, 1929 and 1933 and in addition three silver and three bronze medals at the European Championships. Pušbauer was a dentist who practiced in the center of Praha, and counted among his patients many fellow sportsmen and other celebrities. His hobby was flying and he became a licensed pilot in 1938
