Finnish cross-country skier Eero Rautiola had a brief, but relatively successful, sporting career after World War II. His first national podium finish came in 1947, when he took bronze in the 30 kilometers. The following year he won the national 15-kilometer title and represented his country at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics, where he came in 12th in the 18 kilometers. He took silver nationally in the 30 kilometers in 1950, and then attended that year’s World Championships, where he was 17th in the 50 kilometers and 30th in the 18 kilometers. He retired from active competition after failing to qualify for the 1952 Oslo Games.
