Biography

Pablo Rosenkjer was a pioneer of Alpine skiing in Argentina, which saw him win multiple national titles and compete at two Olympic Games. Rosenkjer was born in Bariloche in 1930 and spent his childhood in Denmark, before returning to Argentina when he was 12-years-old. Two years later he joined his local ski club after taking up the sport care of the homemade skis his brother had made. He soon began to ski competitively and was selected as part of the Argentine Olympic team in 1947. The following year, while he was still only 17, Rosenkjer competed at the 1948 St. Moritz Games. He went from strength to strength, winning 17 national titles and three South American championships, and made his second appearance at the Olympics at the 1952 Oslo Games.

Rosenkjer retired from competition in 1960 and became a trainer and sports administrator. He worked as the director of the local ski club he co-founded and worked as the head coach of the Argentine national skiing team. Between 1985 and 2011 Rosenkjer served as a member of the council of the International Ski Federation (FIS).
