Biography

On either side of World War I, French figure skater Charles Sabouret competed with his wife Simone at national and international events. The Sabourets finished runners-up in the pairs competition at the French championships in 1912 and 1913. All tournaments then ceased due to the war, but the pair returned to competing on the ice, once again finishing second in the pairs, at the 1920 championships. That same year the Antwerpen Olympics took place with ice hockey and figure skating being included alongside the traditional summer sports. Charles and Simone participated in the mixed pairs at the Antwerpen Games, finishing seventh. One year later the Sabourets won the pairs title at the French championships, going on to finish second in 1922. In 1924 they competed in the mixed pairs at the Chamonix Olympics, this time coming ninth.
