Biography

Adolf Scherwitzl was an Austrian cross-country skier and biathlete. He participated in the 1964 Innsbruck and the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics. Scherwitzl competed in the 20 km biathlon on both occasions and finished 41st and 50th respectively. With the Austrian relay he came 11th in 1968.

Scherwitzl, who was a policeman by profession, later turned to coaching and administration and was significantly involved in the growth of biathlon sports in Austria. In 1974, he won his only national title (20 km), when he was also working as a coach at the time. As a senior he was also active in pentathlon and sports shooting.
