Biography

Franz Schuler belonged to the first generation of Austrian biathletes reaching world class status. He participated in four Winter Olympics from 1984 at Sarajevo until 1994 at Lillehammer. His best Olympic individual result was a 17th place in the 10 km sprint at the 1988 Calgary Games.

Schuler’s greatest moment came in 1986 when he won the 10km sprint silver medal at the World Biathlon Championships. Nationally, he won both six gold and six silver medals, and a bronze. Schuler later founded and ran a cycling, cross-country, and biathlon centre at Schwoich.
