German ski jumper Gerd Siegmund placed 11th at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics in the normal hill event. The following year he won his only international medal with the German ski jumping team at the World Championships, when he took silver. At national championships Siegmund won three gold medals, four silvers and three bronzes between 1993-99.
