Biography

In 1952 Jón Karl Sigurðsson represented Iceland in Alpine skiing at the Oslo Olympics. Across the three disciplines Sigurðsson’s best result came in the slalom, placing 40th, along with him finishing 54th in the downhill and 57th in the giant slalom. His older brother Haukur also competed in the same three events at the Oslo Games. Jón Karl’s son Sigurður would later become an Alpine skier too, competing at the Olympics in Innsbruck in 1976 and Lake Placid in 1980.
