Gérard Simond competed as a member of the French ice hockey team at the 1928 Winter Olympic Games, after serving as an alternate in 1924. Simond also took part at the 1932 European Championships and in three World Championships (1930, 1931, 1934). At home, he played for Chamonix HC, winning the French title in 1925 and 1930. In 1930, Simond contributed one goal in the final, when Chamonix defeated the Club des Sports d’Hiver de Paris, 2-0. Other than his time with Chamonix, he played briefly in Germany for the Berliner SC. Simond was a hotelier, running the Hotel Carlton in Chamonix.
