Biography

In the 1930s Italian sportsman Carlo Solveni competed in the bobsleigh, which saw him have success at a national and international level. Solveni paired up with Antonio Brivio at the 1935 World Championships in Igls, Austria and won bronze in the two-man event. This earned them a place on the Italian Olympic team for the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games, where they came 12th in the same event. Solveni also competed in the four-man event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with the team finishing tenth. He then formed a partnership with Mario Vitali, which saw the pair become the Italian champions in the two-man event in 1937 and 1939.
