Austrian luger Reinhold Sulzbacher was one of a few world class lugers competing in both singles and doubles. At the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics he came seventh in the singles and partnered Manfred Schmid in the doubles, finishing fifth.
Sulzbacher then partnered Günther Lemmerer and won the overall world cup in the doubles from 1980-82. Both also placed ninth at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics. In 1982 the pair crowned their careers by winning the European Championships. At the Austrian nationals, Sulzbacher won doubles titles in 1977 (with Schmid), and in 1980 and 1982 (with Lemmerer).
