Stanisław Szczepaniak competed for Poland in the biathlon at both the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics, just missing medals in 1968 when he placed fourth individually and in the relay. Szczepaniak won three medals at the World Championships, taking a bronze in the relay in 1965, a relay silver in 1966, and an individual silver in 1967.
