Biography

Frank-Peter Bischof won two gold medals at the Flatwater World Championships, in 1978 with the East German K-4 500, and in 1981 with the K-4 1,000. He also won silvers with the K-4 500 and the K-4 1,000 squads in 1982. He also won a bronze with the K-4 500 (1981). At the 1976 Montréal Olympics, Bischof won bronze with the K-4 1,000 and at Moscow in 1980, finished fifth in the K-1 500.

His wife Martina Bischof won a gold medal at Moscow in the K-2 500. Frank-Peter Bischof later turned to coaching, and was first employed by the Norwegian Canoe Federation. He later became a regional coach with the Berlin Canoe Federation.
