Biography

East German flatwater canoer Willi Mehlberg finished seventh with his partner Werner Ullrich at the 1960 Roma Olympics with the mixed German team in C2-1,000. Both also claimed a silver medal at the 1963 Worlds in the 10K. From 1959-63 and in 1965 they won East German titles at 1,000 m, and in 1959, 1961-63, and 1965 added 10K titles. Mehlberg also won this title in 1957 with another partner.
