During the 1930s Jaromír Turnovský was one of the best speed skaters in Czechoslovakia. Turnovský was a two-time national champion, winning the title in 1932 and 1933. He earned himself a place on the Olympic team for the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games where his best result came in the 500 metres, finishing 30th. He competed in his final races in 1940, which saw him become the champion of Bohemia and Moravia.
Personal Bests: 500 – 47.0 (1935); 1500 – 2:30.5 (1936); 5000 – 9:25.8 (1936); 10000 – 21:40.4 (1933).
