Biography

Primož Ulaga began his international career as a 17-year-old, and managed his first World Cup win in his second season. Good results early in the 1984 Olympic season made Ulaga one of the favourites to take Yugoslavia’s first winter Olympic medal, but at the Sarajevo Games he could not do better than 13th in the large hill. He achieved his best World Championship result in 1985, when he placed sixth in the large hill competition. His top season was in 1987/1988, when he finished third in the World Cup standings and recorded two wins in front of a home crowd at Planica. With the Yugoslavian team, Ulaga won the silver medal in the team event at the Calgary Olympics, and received another silver medal at the World Ski Flying Championships in Oberstorf. He retired in 1991, with nine World Cup victories under his belt. Primož Ulaga has since been involved with the Slovenian skiing federation, serving among others as the Nordic skiing team leader.
