Tomeju Uruma graduated from Suwa Silkworm School. At the age of 30, he competed in 1932 in his first Olympics, but was eliminated in the heats in Lake Placid. Domestically, he won the 5,000 m and the 10,000 m at the 1931 All Japan Speed Skating Championships. Later, Uruma acted as a judge for many years and was eventually appointed honorary referee of the Japan Skating Federation.
Personal Bests: 500 – 48.6 (1935); 1500 – 2:34.5 (1935); 5000 – 9:22.7 (1932); 10000 – 19:38.1 (1935).
