Biography

Teresio Vachet was an Italian alpine skier who specialized in the downhill. Domestically he never managed to win a national title due to the presence of the veteran Ivo Mahlknecht and the advent of the young Stefano Anzi. In the early 1970s Vachet competed in speed skiing. At the 1971 World Championships in Cervinia Plateau Rosa he was runner-up (182 km/hr) behind his compatriot Alessandro Casse (184 km/hr), with Vachet repeating that silver medal in 1973. Vachet, along with Casse and Luigi Di Marco, remain among the Italian pioneers of this discipline.
