Biography

Pál Ványa skated regularly as a child and only started skiing when he was 19 years old on the advice of a friend. In 1923 he competed as a ski jumper in the colors of the Nature Friends Tourist Association. In 1933 he was already on the BBTE team, continuing as a UTE competitor the following year. Between 1931 and 1943 he won seven championship gold medals in ski jumping and six in team competiton.

Out of 65 competitors he finished third at the Zakopane International Competition in 1936. He was already 44 years old when he represented Hungary at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics. Unfortunately, he fell on his first jump, so he had to give up the competition.

According to his qualification he was a tool and machine locksmith and worked at the Egyesült Izzó
