Otakar Vindyš

Otakar Vindyš, who sometimes played under the pseudonym “Mihály,” began playing bandy with ČLTK Praha in 1902. He joined SK Slavia Praha in 1907 and stayed with them his entire long career, retiring after the 1926-27 season. He played both right wing and defense and was known for his skating speed and his fast breaks. Vindyš was one the original “Seven Musketeers” who represented Bohemia at the 1911 European Championships, which they won. He also played at the Europeans in 1912-13 and 1921-23 and 1925, winning a silver in 1913 with Bohemia, golds in 1922 and 1925 and a bronze in 1923 with Czechoslovakia. He competed at the 1920 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in ice hockey. Vindyš was also considered a top tennis player and had a master’s degree in engineering. He was later inducted into the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
