Brenda Schultz-McCarthy

Brenda Schultz-McCarthy was a Dutch tennis player who played professionally from 1986 to 2008. Schultz-McCarthy achieved a career-best singles ranking of #9 in the world in May 1996, and a doubles ranking of #7 in the world in October 1995. She was known for her fast serve.

Schultz-McCarthy won three ITF singles titles with her first victory coming in January 1987 in Chicago when she beat Anne Grousbeck in straight sets. From April 1989 to October 1997 Schultz-McCarthy won seven singles titles and nine doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She was a two-time runner-up at Grand Slams, reaching the mixed doubles final at the 1988 French Open with Michiel Schapers and the doubles final at the 1995 US Open with Rennae Stubbs.

Schultz-McCarthy competed in the singles and doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with her best performances coming at the latter. She reached the third round of the singles before losing to Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, and just missed out on medal in the doubles with a fourth-place finish along with partner Manon Bollegraf.
