Biography

Polish all-round sportsman Maksymilian Więcek represented his country in ice hockey, basketball, and handball. In the late 1940s Więcek had a brief international career in basketball and handball, but his main success came on the ice. With Cracovia he won three Polish league titles (1946–47, 1949), before winning a further seven with Legia Warszawa (1951–57). In 1948 he was part of the Polish team that competed at the St. Moritz Olympics, playing in three matches and scoring a goal against Czechoslovakia. After his sporting career Więcek became a pharmacologist at the Kraków Military Hospital.
