Individual figure skater Michael Williams was British champion in 1967 and 1968, having been either second or third in the previous two years. Williams started skating at the age of five and was British junior champion at 15. Williams competed in the World and European Figure Skating Championships in both 1967 and 1968, and also went to the Grenoble Winter Olympics. His highest position at all three championships was 13th, on three occasions.
Williams turned professional in 1968 and was British professional champion that year. Shortly afterwards he emigrated to live and work in Canada, where he ran an ice rink in Winnipeg.
