Biography
East German luger Hans-Heinrich Winkler finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics behind teammates Dettlef Günther and Hans Rinn, who came first and third, with the West German Josef Fendt in the silver medal position. That same year, Winkler won a bronze medal at the Hammarstrand European Championships. Domestically, he won two bronze medals in 1974 and 1977.
