Luigi Zucchini was an Italian ice hockey center who was born and lived in the United States. At his brother’s urging, he came to Italy and played the 1935/36 season with Diavoli Rossoneri, winning the Italian title alongside his brother. That season placed him on the Italian team that played at the 1936 Olympic Winter Games.
In his hometown of West Springfield Zucchini was a member of the “Deadline Gang,” made of first generation Italian immigrants, including Gene Grazia, a member of the 1960 USA Olympic Gold Medal hockey team and Henry Campanini and Amo Bessone, a player and coach at Michigan State University.
