Biography

Austrian Alpine skier Mario Reiter reached the peak of his sporting career at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics winning the gold medal in the Alpine combined. The slalom event he could not finish as he was disqualified in the first run. In 1996, he won the silver medal in the slalom event at the World Championships and in 1997 the bronze medal in the combined.

Reiter won three World Cup races in total and two Austrian national titles: 1995 in slalom and giant slalom. In 1998, he was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria.

Until the 2008/09 season, Reiter worked as a commentator for Austrian TV channel ORF, like many other formerly successful Austrian ski racers. After that he was employed in the marketing department of the Austrian Ski Federation.
