Race canoeist Helmut Noller won 23 German and, after World War II, West German Championships between 1939 and 1954. With Günter Krammer he a bronze medal at the 1954 World Championships in the K2 over 1,000 metres, which improved on his fourth place at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics with Gustav Schmidt. Noller later coached youth canoeists at his home club Wassersportverein Mannheim Sandhofen.
