German biathlete Katja Beer, daughter of Manfred Beer, and sister of non-Olympian biathlete Romy Beer, participated at just one Olympics. At Nagano in 1998 she finished a disappointing 39th in the 15 km event. She was not selected for major international events as her performances were not good enough.
At European Championships, Beer won three gold medals and one bronze. She later worked with the German Customs Authorities and married former biathlete Jan Wüstenfeld. She occasionally commentated with the German TV channel Eurosport on biathlon events.
