Biography

Matthias Seack partnered his twin brother Oliver Seack at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the flatwater canoe K-2 events over 500 and 1,000 metres, placing seventh and fifth, respectively. Matthias Seack also earned two bronze medals in the K-4 1,000 at the 1981 and 1982 Flatwater Worlds. In the K-2 500 he added another bronze with his brother in 1982.

From 1983-85 the brothers earned national titles in the K-2 500 and from 1984-86 in the K-2 1,000. From 1983-88 they also won 10K titles. Matthias Seack won the K-1 1,000 titles in 1982-83 and 1985. He later studied medicine and became head of trauma surgery in a Hamburg hospital.
