Sandra Schmitt was a German freestyle skier who specialised in the moguls. At the 1998 Nagano Winter Games she placed ninth. In 1999 she won the World Championships in the dual moguls event and the following year finished third in the overall World Cup in both the moguls and the dual moguls.
In total, Schmitt won five World Cup events. Tragically, she died in the Kaprun fire disaster of the glacier lift on 11 November 2000, along with her parents and a training group of the German Skiing Association. She was aged just 19 at the time.
