Biography

German whitewater canoeist Michael, son of Klaus Trummer, partnered with Manfred Berro in the Canadian doubles at both the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The pair finished ninth and fourth respectively. They won the gold medal at the 1996 European Championships, and Trummer also won three team bronze medals at the Worlds in 1991, 1995, and 1997. Nationally, Trummer and Berro won four titles in both the former GDR (1988-89) and reunified Germany (1993 and 1995).

Trummer later turned to coaching and initially coached the German national youth team. From 2009-19, he was head coach of whitewater canoeing in Germany. He stayed on the Board of the German Canoe Association after ending his time as coach.
