Biography

A two-time Olympian, Japan’s Satoshi Mori made his Olympic début on home soil at Nagano, finishing fifth in the Nordic combined 4x5km team event, and 38th in the men’s individual. At Salt Lake 2002, he was eighth in the team, 22nd in the men’s sprint, and 30th in the men’s individual.

Over a decade long career from 1994-2003, Nori had 79 World Cup starts, and one podium finish of second in the 15km individual at Zakopane in 1999. His best World Championship finish was sixth in the 7.5 km sprint event at Ramsau (also in 1999), which was one of his three best career finishes.

A student at Chukyo University and a resident of Nozawaonsen, Nagano, Mori’s father was a Japanese high school national champion, and his brother Toru was a member of the Japanese national freestyle ski team.
