Guinea (GUI)

Guinea formed a National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1964, which was recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1965. Since making its Olympic début in 1968 Guinea has competed at 11 Olympic Games, missing only 1972 and 1976. It has never competed at the Olympic Winter Games, nor has any Guinean athlete won a medal. Guinean athletes have competed in seven sports at the Olympics – track & field athletics, boxing, football (soccer), judo, swimming, taekwondo, and wrestling.

Most Guinean athletes have gone out in preliminary rounds, but in 1996 Joseph Loua made it to the second round of the men’s 200 metres sprint, and in 1980 Mamadou Diallo finished equal 13th in half-lightweight judo without winning a bout and, at Tokyo 2020, Fatoumata Camara finished 12th in the women’s freestyle wrestling lightweight class.
