Guam (GUM)

Guam formed a National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1976, but it was not recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) until 17 October 1986, at the IOC session in Lausanne. Guam has participated at all Olympic Games since 1988. Guamanian athletes have not distinguished themselves, never really approaching a medal.

Their best performance has likely come in 1992, when Ricardo Blas, Jr. finished ninth in the men’s heavyweight judo. Guam’s initial Olympic appearance came at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, with biathlete Judd Bankert, but they have not taken part in the Olympic Winter Games since. Bankert finished 71st in the 10 km sprint event.
