The Youth Olympic Games Working Group was formed in September 2025 by new IOC President Kirsty Coventry. The IOC noted that it “will look at the potential and relevance of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). It will also take over the process for selecting the host for the 2030 YOG.” The YOG was formerly overseen by the Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad. The initial chair of the working group was Slovakian shooting Olympian Danka Hrbeková (formerly Barteková).
