Unlike in 1928 and again in 1936 and 1948, when there were three music events, there was only one event in music at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Forty-two (42) artists from 14 nations submitted their works. Only a silver medal was awarded which went to Czech composer Josef Suk, who was the grandfather of the violinist Josef Suk (1929-2011) and the son-in-law of the famous composer Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904).
