Baseball at the 1936 Summer Olympics

Baseball has often been a demonstration sport at the Olympics. It was also demonstrated in 1912, 1956, 1964, 1984, and 1988. In 1992, it became an official Olympic sport, and was on the Olympic Programme from 1992-2008, after which it was discontinued, along with softball. The two sports returned to the Olympic Programme with full status at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as baseball is one of the most popular sports in Japan. Although neither baseball or softball were competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, both disciplines are scheduled to appear again at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

In 1936, a single game was played between two American teams, termed the World Team and the Olympics, at the Olympiastadion.
