The road cycling program was the same as in 1948. The road event was conducted as a mass start race of 190.4 km., with 17 laps of an 11.2 km. course, beginning and ending at Käpylä. The team road race consisted of four riders on each team, the best three times to count towards the team time. André Noyelle won the individual gold medal and led Belgium to victory in the team race.
